The CIMA Pathway
The primary purpose of the CIMA qualification is to prepare learners to practice as professional management accountants in all sectors in South Africa and globally. It equips learners to advise managers about the financial implications of projects; explain the financial consequences of business decisions; formulate business strategy; monitor spending and financial control; conduct internal business audits; explain the impact of the competitive landscape and bring a high level of professionalism and integrity to business.
The CIMA qualification comprises 3 pillars of domain knowledge divided into three levels of achievement. The pillars are enterprise, performance and finance. The levels are certificate, operational, management and strategic. When combined with the required practical experience, the CIMA qualification ensures that members are business ready.
To complete the CIMA qualification, and be able to use the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation, students need to:
- minimum of 14 object test exams & 3 case study exams
- complete 3 years of relevant practical experience, which can also be gained before, during and/or after studies.
On your way to CIMA membership also, there are lots of qualifications you can achieve along the way. This is a great way to show your knowledge and skills to employers and helps keep you on track and motivated. You can achieve:
