Team Profile

Team UKZN 3rd Years consists of three dynamic and enthusiastic individuals from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. The team is the result of a school friendship and a motivation to broaden the horizons of all members; culminating in the team’s participation in The CFO Case Study Competition. "It is our goal to use the opportunities afforded to us through this experience to mould our futures and become skilled professionals, prepared to contribute to the expanding South African economy."

The team comprises of: Steffen Wies, the team leader and the ‘shaper’, always motivating the team to engage in fresh and exciting challenges; Mahomed Osman, the ‘co-ordinator’, who is able to identify the strengths of each member in the group, and finally, Rudolph Wies, the ‘evaluator’, who keeps the team rooted and focused.


Individual Profiles


Steffen Wies

Steffen is the team leader, and is the ‘shaper’ of the group, according to the Belbin Model of team dynamics. He keeps the team motivated and focused on the tasks at hand, while monitoring the overall development of the recommendations to the MCOM board. He is currently in the 3rd year, studying BCom Accounting at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, and will complete his articles at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Durban.



Mahomed Osman
 

Mahomed is the ‘co-ordinator’ and ‘implementer’ of the group as per the Belbin Model. He is a strategic thinker who ensures that the team’s plans are translated into practical action which is goal orientated. He has often had to take the role of mediator in team discussions, ensuring that the team considers their overall objectives while also focusing sufficient attention on MCOM’s critical issues. He is currently in the 3rd year of his BCom degree at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, and is going to complete his articles at Deloitte in Durban.



Rudolph Wies

Rudolph is a 3rd year BCom Accounting student at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. On the Belbin Model, he is the ‘evaluator’, ensuring that the team focuses on MCOM’s critical issues. He has also been instrumental in analysing the ethical factors facing the board, as he is a firm believer in considering the concerns of all stakeholders. Signed to do his Chartered Accounting articles with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Durban, Rudolph has aspirations of being an auditor once qualified.
