Amasi Mwela, MBA
CEO, FUNDI 

This  2018 is Amasi's first service  as an  esteemed judge of this competition. He holds a MBA from Milpark Business School (South Africa), and a Bachelor Degree in Finance from Bond University (Australia). One of South Africa’s next generation leaders, he first joined FUNDI (then Eduloan) as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2015 and was promoted to CEO shortly thereafter.  He has led the group’s rebranding from Eduloan to FUNDI as part of its strategic vision, repositioning it as a disruptor and game-changer in South Africa and on the continent. Under his leadership, FUNDI has gone on to effect several acquisitions, bringing it closer to levelling the education playing field through its provision of comprehensive holistic solutions, including education funding, fund administration, support and related products.

Amasi has over 10 years experience in driving operational optimisation across diverse industries, serving roles such as Manager: Operations -Direct Distribution at Old Mutual iWYZE, where he, amongst others, delivered optimal financial results through innovative process optimisation, staff development, motivation and performance management. Prior to that, he was Divisional Client General Manager at American Express Corporate Travel, where he directed key account management; driving savings and executing strategic sourcing. In his prior role as Finance Manager at First National Bank (FNB), he had overall financial responsibility for the Custody Services division, including monthly financial reporting; coordinating budget and year-end audit processes and providing support for the strategic planning of the division.
