This 2018 is Kennedy’s first service as an esteemed judge of this competition. He is a Chartered Certified Accountant, CCA; a fully-qualified member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA –UK) and a Professional Accountant (SA), qualified with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA). He recently (August 2018) joined the JSE-listed Altron Group PLC as the Finance Director Rest Of Africa, having served since January 2016 as the Managing Director of MTN Business in Kenya, were he was responsible for directing and controlling its day-to-day operations, in consultation-with and directives from the MTN SEA Vice President and Board of Directors.
Kennedy was previously, the Finance General Manager of MTN Group’s Enterprise Business Unit, where he oversaw budgeting, financial reporting infrastructure and strategies, the setting up of settlement mechanisms and profitability analysis, as well as the development of performance measurement methodology. Prior to joining MTN, he was Business Controller –Enterprise and Partner Group (EPG) for Microsoft South Africa, a role he served for 4 years, after completing 14 progressively challenging years at IBM South Africa; first as Finance Infrastructure Controller, Finance and Planning Team Leader (IT Services Business Unit), Finance and Planning Controller -and finally, Group Chief Accountant & Treasurer – Southern and Central Africa. Prior to joining IBM South Africa, he served for 3 years as Business Analyst for LOTUS Development Pty Limited, another IBM Subsidiary.
