Ryan attended the Uni­ver­sity of Wit­wa­ter­srand where he com­pleted his Bach­e­lor of Com­merce and Bacheor of Account­ing. He went on to com­plete his audit­ing at Deloitte & Touche and qual­i­fied as a Char­tered Accoun­tant (SA) in 1996 hav­ing passed his board exams and com­pleted his train­ing con­tract. Ryan is pas­sion­ate about learn­ing and devel­op­ment, hav­ing spent over 15 years in the cor­po­rate train­ing and devel­op­ment field.
